  Bishop’s Cup Victory

   

   

  St Anthony's Under-11 Football Team captured the prestigious Bishop's Cup, returning the Cup to St Anthony’s after 24-years with a thrilling 3:2 victory over St Peter and Paul's. Demonstrating incredible teamwork, resilience, and skill, the players fought hard through every round of the tournament to secure this historic win. This monumental achievement is a testament to the dedication of the squad and the unwavering support of our school community. Huge thanks must go to Mr Whittle for his superb coaching, guidance, and inspiration, which helped lead the team to ultimate success, which we dedicated in memory of our beloved Mr Daly, whom we all know will be dancing a jig in heaven following this success! We are immensely proud of our champions for bringing the cup back home to St Anthony's and writing a thrilling new chapter in our school's sporting history. What an emotional success for our school!

  

• Our beautiful new St Anthony portrait gifted to us for St Anthony's Day!

  Thank you Mr Kopinska We held a special liturgy on Monday morning where we were presented with a unique gift from Mr Kopinska, one of our amazing parents from Year 3. He had followed St Anthony as his example. Mr Kopinska had personally painted a stunning image of St Anthony to commission to our school for many years to come. It embodies thanks from the Kopinska family for the love and care they have received whilst being part of our St Anthony’s community, especially in recent challenging times. The meaning and significance of the piece is quite overwhelming. I can honestly say it is the most moving and inspiring gift I have received in my 25 years at St Anthony’s. Mr Kopinski has used his talents for the good of others, representing his faith just as St Anthony teaches us. We have displayed this new painting in a very special display in our school, where it will symbolise what being a part of St Anthony’s means. Thank you Mr Kopinska and may God bless you always.

• Good Shepherd Mass - May 2026 at Leeds Cathedral

  Good Shepherd I was blessed to accompany three children to The Good Shepherd Mass at Leeds Cathedral. This was led by Bishop Marcus and attended by schools across the Diocese of Leeds in celebration of The Year of St Francis of Assisi.   Henry Blasket (Year 6), Emily Kehoe (Year 5) and Matilda Kehoe (Year 3) represented St Anthony’s and proudly presented a cheque for £683.00 from our Lenten fundraising. Bishop Marcus expressed his thanks to us all.   During Mass, Bishop Marcus reminded us that through our Lenten fundraising we are mirroring God’s preferential love for the poorest and most vulnerable people, jus tlike St Francis. May we all be blessed for our charitable works and our commitment to Catholic Social Teaching Principles.

• Year 3 Class Assembly - Growing together on a journey with Jesus

  Year 3 growing on a journey with Jesus

  Our Year 3 class were buzzing as they performed their class assembly centred around our mission statement of “Growing together on a journey with Jesus.” The children celebrated friendship as well as the power of working together as they blossomed sharing their story with the whole school community. I have never seen our school hall so full! Thank you to all our Year 3 parents who came to support. I was blown away by the remarkable and exceptional level of acting, singing and reflection Year 3. Well done and I look forward to seeing you demonstrating your key messages through your words and actions this Lent. God bless you all! Huge thanks to Mrs Gledhill, Mrs O’Neill, Mrs Cecil and Mrs Gallagher for guiding our Year 3 children on their journey through St Anthony’s and preparing them so well.

  Christmas Parties and Elf Day

  On Tuesday, all children were given the opportunity to come to school dressed as elves and they certainly did not disappoint! A huge thank you to all parents for the costumes provided and the donations made towards party food for the children. The day itself was a huge success, with children having the opportunity to play games, dance, draw and complete a range of creative Christmas activities. I was very impressed by Reception’s turntaking during ‘Pass the Parcel’, the dance moves on show in Key Stage 1 and the range of different activities taking place in Key Stage 2 (Miss Peacey’s annual bingo session was once again a hit). To add to the festive feeling we served Christmas lunch to the children. Our wonderful catering staff worked tirelessly to ensure almost 240 meals were served (with a little help from Mr James, Mrs Doherty and Mrs Normington). Throughout lunch we were joined by a host of guests, including our committed governors and our army of loyal volunteers. We are indebted to them for the commitment they show to the school and I hope they know their service is greatly appreciated. May I also thank Mrs Grosvenor and Mrs Grimwood for ensuring all meals were organized and accounted for!

  

• KS1 Nativity

  A King Is Born - Year 1 and Year 2 Nativity

  On Monday, many in our school community were fortunate enough to watch our Key Stage 1 children perform A King Is Born – a retelling of the events of Jesus’ birth. It was a pleasure to watch wonderful performances from all pupils and to witness the pride displayed on the faces of delighted parents. May I take this opportunity to thank parents for turning up in vast numbers and for their support with learning lines and buying costumes. I am indebted to our talented Key Stage 1 team for their hard work and dedication in ensuring children told the Christmas story through smiles, songs and moments of silence. As I am sure you will agree, Mrs Coldman, Mrs Capladi, Mrs Roberts, Mrs Cook, Mrs Hennigan and Mrs Dogaru did an incredible job in preparing such a wonderful occasion.
