Year 3 Visit Yorkshire Sculpture Park - Thursday 3rd October 2024

On Thursday 3rd October, Year 3 visited the Yorkshire Sculpture Park to enhance our Art Topic which focusses on the creation of sculpture. Our focus artist, Barbara Hepworth is widely celebrated across the Sculpture Park and we had a wonderful day exploring her artwork. The Family of Man (1970) is a beautiful representation of a group of figures in a landscape. We learnt that each of the nine sculptures represents a stage of life and Year 3 enjoyed sketching and creating their own sculptures in a similar style using clay. We visited many of the different sculptures across the park and worked closely with an artist who developed our understanding of shape, shading and depth of the objects we were drawing. Year 3 were exceptional in their work and created some beautiful artwork in their own sketchbooks. Take a look at some of our photographs from the day. Well done Year 3!
