Here at St Anthony's we believe that all the fun activities that you do with your child at home are crucial in supporting their learning and development, and have a really long lasting effect on your child's learning as they progress through school.
Here are some helpful tips on how you can help your child at home...
*Sing and tell nursery rhymes.
*Take time to share a book with them each day. Why not bring a favourite book into school to share with the class too!
*Talk about numbers, colours, words and letters you see when you are out and about.
* Encourage and praise them so they feel successful.
* Play games, share, take turns and help them understand that they will not always win.
* Help them to recognise their name and to write it starting with a capital letter.
* Make dressing and undressing part of their own routine, including putting on their coat and shoes.
* Make tidy up times into a game, you could count the items as you put them away.
* Come into school whenever you can as the children really do love to see you in school!
*Visit the local library to encourage a love of books.
* Work together on learning logs, word walls and reading books!
